Generation Change: New CEO Leads Hungary’s Largest Space Company

After 28 years, Hungary’s largest space company, BHE, undergoes a significant transition with the appointment of a new CEO.

Founded in the early 1990s by Hungarian researchers, BHE specializes in the development and manufacturing of high-frequency microwave communication devices. These devices serve diverse sectors including mobile service providers, government agencies, aviation, space exploration, and defense organizations. BHE’s equipment is deployed on satellites, the International Space Station, at stadiums, airports, and integrated into ground stations worldwide, supporting leading global space agencies. Notably, BHE’s technology plays a pivotal role in India’s Moon missions and in receiving signals from Mars probes, spanning hundreds of millions of kilometers.

Since 1996 Dr. Károly Kazi, an electrical engineer, has been at the helm as CEO, overseeing the company’s growth and development. BHE, now fully Hungarian-owned, has expanded to employ over 120 individuals and its products are utilized across four continents in more than 30 countries.

Commencing May 1, 2024, Gábor Schreck assumes the role of CEO and Managing Director of BHE. With a wealth of technical expertise and decades of international senior management experience, Schreck brings a valuable perspective to the company, having held senior positions at renowned firms such as Sierra Wireless and Huawei.

From now on dr. Karoly Kazi will continue as an Honorary CEO and will provide general and strategic advisory for BHE Management.

BHE assures stakeholders that the leadership transition will not disrupt its operations or relationships.
